The Redondo Beach Veterans Memorial Task Force is a community based volunteer organization comprised of local veterans and citizens.
History
Veterans Park in Redondo Beach California was dedicated by the city council in 1930. The park is located on 6.3 acres of land at the corner of Torrance Boulevard & Catalina Avenue and just south of the Redondo Beach Pier.
Following the approval of a conceptual design by the City council to develop a park memorial honoring the service of our country's veterans, the Task Force was organized.
The projected cost to complete the memorial is estimated at $250.000.00.
Future Plans
After an initial pledge of $70.000.00 from the Redondo Beach City Council, members of the Task Force will be contacting local corporations, businesses and service and community organizations to raise the necessary funding to break ground by Memorial Day 2010 & dedicate on Veterans Day, November 11, 2010.
Local citizens are encouraged make donations to help place in perpetuity, a memorial honoring all veterans of the United States of America.
